Luzern II secured a decisive 3-0 victory over Juventus II in the 1. Liga Promotion Group Stage on Friday, August 1st. The away side controlled proceedings from the opening exchanges and never looked threatened. Juventus II saw their hopes of climbing away from the bottom half of the table fade quickly.
The first breakthrough came at the 14-minute mark when the visitors broke through the home defence. And here's the thing — it wasn't a moment of individual brilliance so much as sustained pressure finding its reward. Juventus II's back line struggled to adjust to the pace of the away side.
By the 42nd minute, Luzern II had doubled their advantage before half-time. To be fair, the home side should have been more alert to the danger, but their organisation seemed to have broken down. The visitors took a comfortable lead into the interval and showed no signs of letting up.
The third goal arrived in the 78th minute, effectively ending any remaining contest. By then, Juventus II had been chasing shadows for most of the second half. The away side kept knocking on the door and eventually found the net again. It was a thorough performance from the visitors.
The result leaves Juventus II in 15th place with 6 points from 6 games — 2 wins, 0 draws, 4 losses. Luzern II remain in 17th position with 4 points from 6 games, though this victory will lift their spirits considerably. The gap between the sides has widened further.
Juventus II had shown promise in recent matches, including a 1-0 win over Lugano II, but this performance suggested they still have work to do. Luzern II, meanwhile, will be encouraged by their ability to take all three points away from home. The group stage continues to offer plenty of movement.
