Bradley Barcola completes move to Liverpool from PSG
Liverpool sign France winger Bradley Barcola from PSG in a deal worth up to £123m, while Cody Gakpo stays despite City's £80m offer.
Liverpool have completed the signing of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, ending a saga that ran for much of the summer. The deal is worth an initial £106m, rising to £123m, and the France winger has signed a five-year contract.
«It took a long time but I’m really happy today to be able to play for Liverpool and all I want is to be on the pitch and be able to play,».
The move had been held up while PSG lined up replacements, bringing in Mika Godts from Ajax, Ferran Torres from Barcelona and Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco. Barcola himself would only countenance a move to Liverpool, and said as much.
“When I knew about Liverpool's interest in me, I didn't ask questions and I knew it was a very big club for me,” he said.
The head coach has made wingers a priority as he rebuilds the front line.
Liverpool also rejected an £80m offer from Manchester City for Cody Gakpo over the weekend and expect the Dutchman to stay. Selling another forward at this stage would have left little time to bring in a replacement.
