Neville: Man United's defensive habit won't go away

Manchester United conceded two goals in three straight Premier League matches on Sunday, and Gary Neville says he cannot see the habit going away any time soon.

Ten Hag's side led twice at Goodison Park but were pulled back both times, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles equalising in the 96th minute after Benjamin Sesko had seemingly won it for United in the 88th. The 2-2 draw leaves United 11th in the table with one win, one draw and one defeat from three games.

Bryan Mbeumo put United ahead just after half-time. Tyrique George levelled for Everton with a strike on 83 minutes, and Sesko headed United back in front five minutes later, only for Maitland-Niles to score with almost the last kick of the game.

United have now conceded two goals in each of their three league fixtures this season, including against newly-promoted Hull City and Ipswich Town. Neville, speaking on his podcast, worked out what this run means for their season.

He singled out Dorgu for the build-up to the Maitland-Niles goal, calling it a "massive mistake" to press in isolation with United leading 2-1 away from home late in the game, and said defensive frailties exposed by the summer window left United vulnerable.
