Cherchesov Marks 500th Match as Head Coach
Akhmat boss Stanislav Cherchesov, 63, reached his 500th match in charge against Rubin, capping a coaching career spanning eight clubs and two national teams.
Stanislav Cherchesov took charge of his 500th match as a head coach on Monday, with Akhmat hosting Rubin.
The 63-year-old has held the Akhmat job for the past year. His first match in charge came in March 2004, with Kufstein. Between then and now he has managed Wacker, Spartak, Zhemchuzhina, Terek, Amkar, Dinamo Moscow, Legia, the Russia and Kazakhstan national teams, and Ferencváros.
A former Soviet Union goalkeeper, Cherchesov has won league titles in Poland and Hungary, along with the domestic cups in both countries, and took silver in the Russian Premier League. He holds the Order of Alexander Nevsky.
