Manuel Locatelli faces three to four months out injured after suffering a knee problem in Juventus's 1-1 draw with Milan on Sunday, according to Corriere dello Sport, with surgery on a suspected meniscus issue now a possibility.

The captain will undergo medical tests at J Medical to establish the extent of the damage. If an operation proves unnecessary, Juventus will proceed with conservative therapy instead.

Locatelli is now expected to miss the trips to Sassuolo and NEC, the latter Juventus's opening Europa League fixture, and the Serie A meeting with Atalanta.

Spalletti already fielded seven absentees against Milan: alongside Kenan Yildiz and Khephren Thuram, both sidelined after surgery of their own, Weston McKennie, new signing Pape Sarr, Andrea Cambiaso, Ekhator and Cabal were also missing. Sarr's absence stood out given his arrival was meant to add midfield cover; his introduction may now come sooner than planned.
