Khlusevich leaves Spartak, joins Rostov

Spartak paid Daniil Khlusevich €345,000 to end his contract early, less than the €1.2m sought; the defender has now signed a two-year deal with Rostov.

Spartak have terminated the contract of defender Daniil Khlusevich, and the club paid €345,000 to settle it — three months' wages, and well short of the €1.2m the 26-year-old's side had been seeking, according to Metaratings. Khlusevich's annual salary at Spartak stood at around €1.5m. He has since signed a two-year deal with Rostov.

Khlusevich joined Spartak from Arsenal Tula in winter 2022 and made 110 appearances for the club, scoring six goals and adding 12 assists. This season he had featured just once without scoring or assisting.

Alexander Mostovoi, the former Spartak and Russia midfielder, gave his reading of the move to Sport-Express.

Khlusevich's exit follows a week in which Spartak beat Rodina 3-1 in the Fonbet Cup, a match in which sporting director Francisco Carcedo praised fringe defender Rui Saus rather than Khlusevich, showing where the defensive hierarchy already lay.
