Lewis Hall signs new long-term deal at Newcastle

Lewis Hall has signed a new long-term contract at Newcastle United, running to 2031, ending speculation over a summer approach from Manchester United.

The 22-year-old left-back joined the Magpies from Chelsea in August 2023 and has made 107 appearances since, a run that includes every round of the club's 2024/25 Carabao Cup campaign, the club's first domestic trophy in 70 years, though a knock kept him out of the final itself. He had three years left on his existing deal before putting pen to paper on the extension.

Hall told the club's website he was "absolutely delighted" and called it "a really proud moment".

He has started the season as first choice under new head coach Matthias Jaissle, playing every minute available across three Premier League fixtures and both Carabao Cup ties.

Jaissle said he had been "impressed with Lewis" since arriving at St James' Park, describing him as "a very important player for us and for what we are building here". By all accounts the head coach rates his room for improvement highly, adding that Hall "has a lot of room to develop" and that "the best is still to come" from him.

Newcastle have now lost key players in back-to-back summer windows, and tying down a first-team regular such as Hall on fresh terms guards against a third.
