Monaco reportedly want up to €30m for Aleksandr Golovin

Spartak's €19m bid was turned down, Monaco reportedly want €25-30m, and Zenit and Saudi clubs are also interested, while his agent says Golovin will return.

Foot-sur7.fr reports that Spartak and Zenit both made official offers for the 30-year-old, and that Monaco judged Spartak's too low. Konur adds that Zenit and the Saudi clubs Al-Ahli and Neom SC are also interested. Golovin's contract runs to 2029.

Golovin's agent, Aleksandr Klyuev, declined to say whether the Spartak story is over. Asked by Sports.ru, he said the player was on the way to join the Russia squad and was focused on that.

"Without comment," Klyuev said when asked if the Spartak chapter had closed. On a return to the Russian Premier League he said: "In the near term the plan is to join the national team. More broadly, Aleksandr has a contract with Monaco until 2029. Sometime, of course, Golovin will return to Russia."

Asked whether a move to Spartak was realistic given that Golovin came through the CSKA academy, Klyuev again said "Without comment".

Golovin has played six matches for Monaco in all competitions this season, scoring once and providing two assists. The club lead Ligue 1 with 13 points from 5 games, and beat PSG 2:1 on 4 September.

Monaco, top of the table, have little reason to lower a price set at least €6m above Spartak's bid. If the Russian clubs return, the gap between €19m and the reported €25-30m is the figure to watch.
