Porto beat 10-man Benfica 3-1 with Gabri Veiga goal

Porto won the Primeira Liga clash at the Dragão after Clément Lenglet's red card, with Veiga, Froholdt and Hwang In-beom scoring and Samu Aghehowa returning.

Porto beat Benfica 3-1 at the Estádio do Dragão on Sunday in the seventh round of the Primeira Liga, with Benfica playing the second half of the game with 10 men.

Gabri Veiga put the home side ahead on 31 minutes. Pepê sent a long pass forward, Veiga controlled it with one touch and finished past Samuel Soares. Benfica had made the first attempt of the game, a header from Gianluca Prestianni that went over the bar.

Clément Lenglet was then sent off for a second yellow card, after he struck André Silva in the face.

Benfica found a way back into it on 51 minutes. Prestianni crossed and Alexander Bah headed past Diogo Costa. The equaliser lasted three minutes. Pablo Rosario played a ball in behind, Silva found Viktor Fröhholdt in the area, and the 20-year-old Dane drove in a shot to make it 2-1. Froholdt has seven goals for Porto since he joined in November.

Hwang In-beom added the third for the champions, as Benfica began to tire and the numerical disadvantage told.

Samu Aghehowa also returned for Porto, after seven months out with injury.

Soares, 24, had been reported on 12 September to be close to agreeing a new contract at Benfica.
