Bandirmaspor defender Tolga Kalender dies at age 25
Tolga Kalender, defender for second-tier Bandirmaspor, has died aged 25, the Turkish Football Federation said. No cause was given; his funeral is on Wednesday.
Tolga Kalender, a defender with Bandirmaspor, has died at the age of 25, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) announced on Wednesday, 23 September.
The federation posted the news on X. It said it had learned of his death "with deep sorrow" and offered condolences to his family, his friends and the whole football community, Bandirmaspor in particular. No cause of death has been given.
Local media, including the Aykiri portal, reported that Kalender had been in hospital for some time receiving treatment for health problems. His funeral is set for Wednesday.
Bandirmaspor play in the second tier of Turkish football. Kalender was with them in 2024 and 2025. Before that he played for Adana Demirspor, Bayrampasaspor and Diyarbekirspor, and came through the youth system at Istanbul Basaksehir.
