Milan send scout to watch Alessandro Romano's Italy debut

Milan have assigned a scout to watch Cagliari midfielder Alessandro Romano against Belgium, with Juventus and Inter also interested and Cagliari valuing him at €25m.

Alessandro Romano celebrates a goal for Cagliari in a Serie A match

Milan have arranged for a scout to watch Alessandro Romano in Italy's Nations League fixture against Belgium at the Stadio Olimpico on Friday, according to Calciomercato, as relayed by Football Italia and Goal. The Cagliari midfielder is expected to make his Italy debut.

Goal reports that the scout was assigned at the request of Ruben Amorim. Juventus, Inter and several LaLiga clubs are also said to be interested.

Romano, 20, joined Cagliari from Roma in the summer on loan, with an obligation to buy that could take the deal to a maximum of €6.5m. Russian outlet Euro-Football puts the fee at €5m. He scored on his Serie A debut, away to Parma on 22 August, and has made five league appearances since.

Calciomercato says the club could be looking at offers of around €25m before next summer. A January exit is thought unlikely, unless an offer arrives that is hard to turn down. Roma have yet to see the obligation triggered, and Cagliari have not yet completed the purchase.

If Romano starts and plays well against Belgium, the talks reported for next summer may open sooner than Cagliari would like, and the fee they are said to be asking would then be tested by several bidders at once.
