De Bruyne shoves referee in Belgium's loss to France
Belgium's captain was booked after pushing the official during a 0:1 Nations League defeat, as France's Olise struck late to seal the win.
Kevin De Bruyne pushed the referee during Belgium's 0:1 home defeat to France in the second round of the Nations League's group phase, according to Het Laatste Nieuws.
The 35-year-old had received medical treatment on the pitch. Under the rule requiring a player treated for injury to spend a minute off the field before returning, the referee told him to leave. De Bruyne reacted badly, directing sharp words at the official before shoving him. He was booked in the 57th minute.
Belgium finished the night with three yellow cards. Diego Moreira was cautioned in the 42nd minute and Youri Tielemans in the 66th, either side of De Bruyne's own booking. France, who dominated with 65% possession and seven shots on target to Belgium's two, settled it through Michael Olise in the 88th minute at the King Baudouin Stadium.
De Bruyne, capped 126 times with 38 goals for Belgium, has made only a handful of appearances since returning to the squad in March. The result leaves Belgium second in Group 1 of League A on three points from two matches, behind France.
Our pre-match prediction had backed Belgium to win; a fuller account of the game is here, alongside the original forecast.
