Alexis Javier Cantero Fernández

Cantero's gold medal came at home. In 2022, at the South American Games in Asunción , he was part of the Paraguay under-20 squad that finished first — the city where he was born, and the year he made his professional debut.

That debut came in October 2022 for Club Guaraní , where he had come up through the academy. He stayed nearly three years, playing roughly 68 league matches. The goals did not follow: two across all competitions in that time.

In the summer of 2025 he moved to Club Olimpia . The fee was not disclosed. In December 2025, Olimpia sent him to Russia on loan — FC Orenburg , for the remainder of the 2025–26 season, with an option to buy attached.

The option was never taken up. He has since joined Sportivo Luqueño .

He is left-footed and plays off the left. No individual awards are on his record, and he has not yet been capped by the senior Paraguay side.
