About the player
Anna Gasper grew up playing in Cologne before joining Bayer Leverkusen's youth system, where she topped the scoring charts in the B-Juniorinnen-Bundesliga West/Südwest with 19 goals in 2013/14 — an unusual return for a midfielder still working her way up. That form carried her into the Leverkusen senior set-up, where she won the DFB-Hallenpokal in 2015, and on to Germany's youth ranks, where she made 12 appearances and scored twice for the U19s.
A move to 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam followed in 2016, a four-year spell that produced 64 appearances and 9 goals and brought her to the fringes of the senior national set-up, with a call-up in November 2016 and a training camp invitation in January 2019. She did not go on to earn a cap for the full Germany side.
From Potsdam, Gasper moved into Austrian football with SKN St. Pölten and Austria Wien, before a switch to Portugal reshaped the next phase of her career. She signed for Benfica in January 2023, and the move turned into the most productive period of her career to date: 124 appearances and 11 goals across three seasons, with the club winning the Campeonato Nacional Feminino in each of her campaigns there, alongside domestic cup and league cup honours.
In July 2026, Gasper signed a two-year contract with Chicago Stars FC, with a club option for 2028, taking her career to the United States for the first time. The transfer fee has not been disclosed.
