Gustavo Adrián Ramos Vásquez

Gustavo Adrián Ramos Vásquez left América de Cali as a young forward in 2009. Hertha BSC paid roughly €2 million for him that year, and he helped the Berlin club win promotion out of the 2. Bundesliga twice, in 2010–11 and again in 2012–13. He moved to Borussia Dortmund in 2014, where he picked up a DFL-Supercup winner's medal that same year. Across his time in Germany, Ramos scored 45 goals in 258 Bundesliga appearances, a tally that stands as a record among Colombian players in the league.

A move to Chinese club Chongqing Lifan in 2017 did not work out as planned, and he left without making an appearance for the side. He rebuilt his career in Spain instead, joining Granada CF on loan before signing permanently and spending two seasons there.

Ramos returned to América de Cali in 2020 as a free agent, by then in his mid-thirties, and turned into one of the most reliable forwards the club has had. He helped América win the Categoría Primera A title that year, added to the one he had already won with the club in 2008, and has scored more than 100 goals across his two spells in Cali, including a dozen in the clásico against Deportivo Cali. That derby record has become part of what fans point to when his name comes up.

He was capped 37 times by Colombia between 2008 and 2016, scoring four goals, and represented his country at the 2014 World Cup and the 2011 Copa América.
