Anderson Duarte

Anderson Duarte's biggest medal came before most fans in Mexico had heard his name: in 2023, he was part of the Uruguay squad that won the Under-20 World Cup on Argentine soil. That run through the youth ranks traced back to Tacuarembó and Defensor Sporting, where he came through the academy and made his first-team debut in the Segunda against Uruguay Montevideo in November 2021. He stayed with the Montevideo club through 2024, appearing 62 times and scoring 14 goals.

His move abroad came in August 2024, when he joined Toluca in Mexico. First-team chances there were limited — seven appearances and a single goal — and in 2025 he went out on loan to Mazatlán, where he again managed one goal in nine matches. He has since moved on loan to Atlético San Luis.

Duarte's rise through Uruguay's youth system did not stop at Under-20 level; he has also represented the Under-15, Under-17 and Under-23 sides, and has been called up to the senior national team. At club level, the challenge now is a familiar one for a young forward who peaked early with a title on the biggest underage stage.
