About the player
Baena's most tangible medal came in the 2024 Puchar Polski final. He started for Wisła Kraków against Pogoń Szczecin, played until the 69th minute, and watched the rest from the bench as Wisła won 2–1 in extra time.
Before Poland, there was a long apprenticeship that never quite opened the final door. He came through CF Damm, then joined Real Betis' academy in 2017 and made his senior debut for Betis Deportivo Balompié against FC Jumilla in April 2018. Four seasons with the reserves followed — around 86 to 88 appearances and six goals — but no official first-team match for Real Betis.
The move to CD Lugo in July 2022, on a free, gave him a full season in the Segunda División and the numbers that defined his profile: 34 league appearances, one goal and eleven assists.
He joined Wisła Kraków on a free transfer in July 2023 and stayed two seasons, making 80 appearances with six goals and fourteen assists. When his contract expired in June 2025 he moved again without a fee, signing for Widzew Łódź on 16 June and formally joining on 1 July. The deal runs to 30 June 2027, with an option for a further year.
