About the player
Ángel Alberto Leyva Serrano worked his way through every age group at Mazatlán FC — Sub-16, Sub-18 and Sub-23 — before the club gave him his first-team debut on 19 April 2025, away to América.
His first season in the senior squad amounted to a single appearance. The breakthrough came in 2025/26, when the defender featured 15 times in the league across the Clausura and Apertura tournaments and added one appearance in the Leagues Cup. Across his time at Mazatlán he made 17 appearances without scoring or setting up a goal.
Leyva has also been capped at youth international level, called up to Mexico's Sub-17 squad and named in the country's roster for the 2023 Sub-17 World Cup in Indonesia. Details of his playing time at that tournament are not on record.
On 1 June 2026 he left the club that developed him, joining Club Puebla as a free agent. Because he arrived through Mazatlán's own academy system, no transfer fee changed hands, and his contract was signed in time for the Apertura 2026 campaign. By August 2026 he had made three appearances for Puebla.
