About the player
Bálint Katona came through Ferencvárosi TC's academy setup, joining the club's youth ranks around 2019. Loaned to Kecskeméti TE for the 2021–2022 and 2022–2023 seasons, the midfielder made 66 league appearances and scored 13 goals, a productive run that helped the club win promotion to the Nemzeti Bajnokság I and finish as runners-up in NB II in 2022–23. After a brief return to Ferencváros, he went out on loan again for the 2024–2025 season, adding a further 24 league appearances and 3 goals for Kecskemét.
He was part of the squad that won the Nemzeti Bajnokság I title in 2023–24, the club's sixth championship in a row, and reached the Magyar Kupa final that season, losing out to Paks. He wore the number 55 shirt during his spell in Budapest.
At international level, Katona represented Hungary's under-21 side, collecting six caps between 2022 and 2023.
In August 2025 he left Ferencváros on a free transfer, joining Nyíregyháza Spartacus and signing a three-year contract.
