Benjamin Uphoff

After coming through the youth ranks at SV Wacker Burghausen, he joined 1. FC Nürnberg at 17, but never made a first-team appearance there, instead making 52 outings for the club's Regionalliga side. The pattern continued at VfB Stuttgart, where he made just two appearances for the senior team in 2. Bundesliga while playing the bulk of his football for Stuttgart II — though he did collect a 2. Bundesliga winner's medal with the club in 2016/17.

A move to Karlsruher SC in 2017 finally gave him a run of first-team football, with 108 appearances across all competitions and two regional cup wins, the Landespokal Baden in 2017/18 and 2018/19. At SC Freiburg from 2020, he again found senior chances limited — two Bundesliga and three DFB-Pokal appearances — with most of his football coming for the reserves in 3. Liga.

It was at Hansa Rostock, from 2024, that Uphoff became a starter. Across two seasons in Rostock's goal he made 57 appearances, the majority in 3. Liga, and kept 24 clean sheets. That run made him a figure at the back for a club competing in the third tier, before his contract ran out in the summer of 2026 and he moved on a free transfer to Eintracht Braunschweig on a two-year deal.

Across his career he has made 308 appearances as a professional and kept 99 clean sheets, built up gradually across six clubs rather than through one long spell as a starter.
