About the player
Besard Šabović spent eleven years in Brommapojkarna's youth ranks before Djurgården picked him up in 2014. He made his senior breakthrough there in 2016, though the path was rarely straight — a loan back to Brommapojkarna in 2017 and another to Dalkurd in 2019 kept him circling rather than settling, even as the Dalkurd spell produced five goals in 27 games and pushed his career forward.
The move to Mjällby in 2020 gave him his most productive scoring season, four goals in 27 Allsvenskan appearances, and it was that form that took him abroad for the first time. Kayserispor signed him in 2021, a switch to Turkish football that lasted only months before he moved again, this time to Russia's Khimki, where he made 21 appearances.
Šabović returned to Djurgården in 2022, and it was there that he collected the one trophy that defines his career on paper: the Allsvenskan title, won with the club in 2019. Back for a second spell, he made 64 appearances over two seasons before leaving Sweden again, this time for Major League Soccer.
In January 2025 he joined Austin FC as a free agent, signing a three-year deal with an option through 2028. He wears the number 14 shirt in Texas.
Šabović has never won a senior international cap, but he built a case at youth level: nine appearances for Sweden's under-17s, fifteen for the under-19s, two for the under-21s, and three more for North Macedonia's under-21 side, a spread that reflects a player who kept his options open before club football took over. Across those youth honours he did not find the net.
