About the player
Brendan Hines-Ike's path to Major League Soccer ran through Europe first. Born in Denver, Colorado, the defender spent his early professional years abroad, joining Swedish side Erebro in 2016 before moving on to Kortrijk in Belgium two years later, where he stayed until 2021 and picked up experience in continental competition alongside league and cup football.
He returned to the United States in 2021, signing with D.C. United, where he spent two seasons before his contract there ended. Austin brought him in as a free agent on 14 February 2024, and he has held a place in the club's defensive line since.
Hines-Ike has also featured for the United States at youth level, having trained with the under-18 national team between 2011 and 2012 across several camps.
