About the player
Callum McCowatt made his name in New Zealand football. In the 2017–18 championship decider he scored the winning goal for Auckland City. A year later, at Eastern Suburbs, he scored a hat-trick in the final, in a season in which he had scored 21 goals in just 16 league matches — enough to make him the competition's top scorer and to win the Steve Sumner Trophy in both 2017–18 and 2018–19.
He made his debut for New Zealand in 2019 and has since won 35 caps, scoring against Ireland, Sweden, Vanuatu and Samoa. McCowatt was part of the New Zealand squad at the Tokyo Olympics and played at the 2026 World Cup.
