About the player
His most visible run came far from Guadalajara: at Under-17 level he was Mexico's first-choice goalkeeper at the 2017 World Cup in India, playing all four of the side's matches and keeping a clean sheet in one of them and finished fourth.
Between Guadalajara and the top flight, López spent several seasons out on loan in the Liga de Expansión, Mexico's second tier, moving through Alebrijes de Oaxaca, Tapatío and Tepatitlán and totalling 43 appearances across the three clubs.
The move that changed his club affiliation came in June 2023, when his loan spell ended and Atlético San Luis signed him permanently on a two-year deal. San Luis itself has a relatively short history in its current form: founded in 2013 after relocating from Veracruz, the club won the second-division title in 2018/19 and has stayed in Liga MX ever since, with Atlético Madrid holding a 51% stake.
