About the player
Dagur Orri Garðarsson spent the 2025 season away from Stjarnan, out on loan at HK Kópavogur, who play in Iceland's second tier, the 1. deild karla. By the end of the Icelandic Cup, he had scored four goals, a tally that put him among the tournament's leading scorers, level with two other players, Tor and Hector, who also finished on four.
When the loan finished, Garðarsson went back to Stjarnan. He did not stay long. On 5 February 2026, he signed for Valur Reykjavík, agreeing terms that run until 31 December 2031. Neither side revealed what Valur paid to sign him.
It capped an eventful stretch: a season out on loan, a place among the Cup's leading scorers, a return to Stjarnan, and then a fresh contract elsewhere, all within a matter of months.
