About the player
Friðjónsson broke into Keflavík's first team in 2012.
He stayed at Vålerenga until January 2019, when he joined Viking on loan; the move was made permanent in October 2020. It was with Viking that he won the Norwegian Cup, in 2019, and he remained at the club until August 2022, when he signed for Atromitos in Greece.
Friðjónsson returned to Iceland with Stjarnan in February 2025. In April 2026 he moved on again, joining Valur on a free transfer and signing a contract running to the end of 2028. For Valur he has made 16 appearances in the Besta deild karla and four in the UEFA Conference League, without a goal so far.
Friðjónsson came through every Icelandic youth level — the under-17s, under-19s and under-21s — before his senior debut on 11 January 2018, in a friendly against Indonesia. He went on to win eight caps for Iceland, all of them in 2018 and 2019, without scoring.
