About the player
David Poręba was born in Chicago. He started out at Chicago Magic PNA before joining the Chicago Fire academy in 2013, staying there through 2016, then continued his development at Chicago FC United until 2021.
Rather than turning professional at home, Poręba signed with Stal Mielec in Poland in 2022, making his first-team debut against Wisła Płock that May. A loan to Crown Legacy FC in 2023 gave him a heavier workload: he made 29 appearances, scored six goals, and was made captain of the side.
He returned to the United States in 2024 on loan at Chicago Fire II, a spell that ended with him picking up the Golden Boot in MLS Next Pro that season. The performances were enough to earn him a short-term deal with the Fire's first team that July.
Poręba holds dual American and Polish citizenship but has not played an official match for the Polish national team.
