About the player
Having come through Germany's youth ranks and represented the country up to under-21 level, Denis Huseinbašić switched his sporting nationality to Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2024 and made his senior debut for the national team that year. By November 2024 he had earned seven caps, still without a goal.
His route into professional football ran through the lower divisions. After leaving the Eintracht Frankfurt academy, he joined Kickers Offenbach, where two seasons in the fourth-tier Regionalliga Südwest brought 58 appearances and nine goals. He joined 1. FC Köln in 2022 for a fee of around 50,000 euros.
He played 24 Bundesliga matches and scored four goals in his first season. He stayed on and became a fixture through the club's promotion campaign, playing 31 matches and scoring three goals as Köln won the 2. Bundesliga title in 2024/25. His 100th appearance for the club came in November 2025, against Hamburg.
