About the player
Nine months of Dimo Krastev's Fiorentina contract passed without a single first-team appearance, and it took a series of loans across Italy's lower divisions before the Bulgarian defender found a route back to regular football — through his home country rather than Florence. He arrived at Fiorentina in 2019 from Neftochimic 1986 in Burgas, and for years the club's Primavera side was where he actually played: 29 matches and a goal in 2021/22, then 25 appearances and two goals the following season, before a red card in a Primavera fixture in May 2023 marked the end of that run.
What followed was a string of loans meant to bridge the gap to senior football: Catanzaro in Serie B, then Feralpisalò, then Ternana in Serie C, then Siracusa.
The Bulgaria national team had already come calling before that move settled his club career.
Spartak Varna is where his career has taken shape after years of loan spells failed to produce a foothold in Italian football.
