About the player
The move that took Dominik Steczyk to Portugal cost nothing. On 20 January 2026 the Poland-born forward joined Académico de Viseu as a free agent on a deal running to 30 June 2027. By 1 June 2026 he had played 11 matches for them without a goal or an assist.
He came up through the youth ranks in his home city and around it — Śląsk Chorzów, UKS Zaczek Katowice, Ruch Chorzów between 2011 and 2012, then GKS Katowice from 2013 to 2015 — before VfL Bochum took him to Germany at 16. He stayed there until 2018.
The reserve team at 1. FC Nuremberg gave him his first senior football, and the return was strong: 10 goals in 22 appearances between 2018 and 2021. On loan at Piast Gliwice from 2019 he made 41 appearances and scored four times — where the goals dried up completely across 15 matches. A 2022 loan at Stal Mielec brought one goal in 11 games.
33 appearances and five goals for Hallescher FC in 2022–23. The 2023–24 season back at Ruch Chorzów produced 13 appearances and nothing else, and a short stay at SC Preussen Münster in 2024 yielded one goal in 14.
His most productive senior run followed. At SC Verl from 2024, Steczyk scored 11 goals in 46 matches — before the contract took him to Viseu.
