About the player
Eduardo Águila Castro started out at Queseros de San José, where an eleven-match run produced a single goal before La Piedad's academy took him on in 2019. Atlético San Luis pulled him into its own youth setup that same year, and the defender spent several seasons working through the ranks there while also turning out for La Piedad's junior side.
The step up came in 2023, when Águila broke into San Luis's first team and held his place. He was part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the Apertura in the 2024/25 season.
International recognition followed at youth level first: two appearances for Mexico's under-23 side between 2023 and 2024. The senior call-up arrived in January 2026, when Javier Aguirre named him in the squad for a set of friendlies. Águila made his debut for Mexico that year, featuring in two matches — a 2-0 win over Ghana and a 0-1 defeat to Panama.
