Elena Sainz has already worn three Liga MX Femenil shirts before turning twenty-five.
Her first spell at Puebla, in 2018 and 2019, gave her 31 appearances as a teenager finding her feet in the league. A season at Cruz Azul followed before Puebla brought her back in 2021, and that second stint proved to be the most productive of her career: 97 appearances and seven goals over three seasons.
Sainz left for Atlas in October 2024 and went on to make 57 appearances there without adding to her goal tally, primarily operating from left-back though she has also featured as a central defender. She is now with Pumas UNAM, wearing number 4.
Born in Tepeaca, in the state of Puebla, Sainz has been included in Mexico's youth selection setup, though she has not featured for the senior national team.
