Florin Lucian Tănase

Florin Tănase came through Viitorul Constanța after a loan spell at Voluntari, and Steaua București paid €1.5m for him in August 2016, with Viitorul keeping a 25% sell-on cut.

At the club, now known as FCSB, he made close to 190 appearances and scored 76 goals.

In August 2022 he left for the Gulf, joining Al Jazira in the UAE for €3m. The move produced modest returns, 21 appearances and 2 goals, and a year later he signed for Saudi side Al-Okhdood, where his contract carried an unusual clause allowing him to walk away at any point provided he repaid the salary already paid to him.

He returned to FCSB and to a domestic double, winning the Liga I title again in 2024–25 and the Romanian Super Cup in 2025, now wearing the number 10 shirt.

For the national team, Tănase debuted in a friendly win over Albania in May 2014 and has gone on to score in competitive matches that mattered to Romania's World Cup ambitions, including strikes against North Macedonia in qualifying for the 2022 tournament and, more recently, against Austria and Cyprus in qualifying for 2026.
