About the player
Trabzon produced him and Trabzonspor kept him for six years. Faruk Can Genç joined the club's academy in 2013 as a boy and stayed until 2019, when he signed his first professional contract there. The step from the academy to the senior side, though, never quite arrived on his own terms: the club sent him out on loan to Ümraniyespor for the 2021–2022 season, where he made 14 league appearances, and then to Ankara Keçiörengücü in August 2022. That second loan lasted barely a month — it was terminated in September 2022.
Bandırmaspor, joined on a free transfer in 2024, gave him the fullest season of his career. He played 34 league matches there and scored once. On 20 August 2025 he signed a two-year contract with Van BB, again on a free transfer.
Three months into that contract came the episode that has followed him since. Genç was one of the players caught up in the Turkish football betting investigation of November 2025. He was provisionally suspended on 10 November 2025, and on 13 November the Turkish Football Federation announced a three-month ban. He was a Van BB player at the time.
His international record is short: four caps for Turkey at under-18 level in 2018. He has won no team titles and no individual awards.
A left-footed left-back, Genç has spent his career at clubs across the Turkish leagues rather than settling at any one of them — Trabzonspor, two loans, Giresunspor between 2022 and 2024, then Bandırmaspor, then Van.
