About the player
Francisco Silva has come through every stage of Benfica's academy, from the U17s to the B team. In 2024/25, playing for Benfica's U19s, he scored 19 times in 13 Campeonato Nacional appearances and added ten more in seven UEFA Youth League matches. The rate barely slowed as he moved up: four goals in three U19 outings this past season, a goal on his lone U23 appearance, and a run in the Youth League where he scored nine times in nine games.
That scoring form has not yet carried over to Benfica B's league fixtures, where he has made fifteen appearances without finding the net, followed by a further three to open the new campaign.
Silva has represented Portugal at youth level, with two caps for the U17s and seven for the U19s, scoring twice at the latter. He holds Portuguese and Brazilian nationality, the latter through his father, the former footballer Sílio Sousa, and is the nephew of former Benfica defender Luisão.
