About the player
40.3 km/h — that was the top speed clocked on Gabriel Silva during a Primeira Liga match against Famalicão.
Born in Ribeirão Preto, he came through the Palmeiras academy, signed his first professional contract in July 2020 and made his senior debut that August against Santos. He was part of the Palmeiras squad that won the Copa Libertadores, the Copa do Brasil and the Campeonato Paulista that year, appearing in the knockout stages of both cup competitions.
His move to Portugal, on loan to Santa Clara in August 2022. He played 33 league matches and scored five goals in that first season. Santa Clara made the deal permanent twelve months later, paying €1.5 million for half of his rights on a four-year contract. Across three full seasons with the club he made close to a hundred appearances and scored around seventeen goals.
In late 2025, head coach Vasco Matos dropped him to the reserves over a lack of effort in training. Earlier that year, Al-Ahly of Egypt had offered €5 million for him; Santa Clara turned the bid down, holding out for more than €10 million.
He represented Brazil at Under-17 level, with seven caps and one goal, but has not been called up to the senior national side. In June 2026 he left for Braga, in an €3.5 million deal for 80% of his rights, signing until 2031.
