About the player
The move that took Gabriel Souza to Maringá in December 2025 was not a straightforward signing. Maringá and Cianorte agreed a swap: the full-back Cristovam went to Cianorte on loan, and Souza — then finishing a loan spell at Operário Ferroviário — came the other way. The financial terms were not disclosed.
He had arrived at that point through a run of clubs across five states. His professional career began in 2020 at Vitória da Conquista, in his home state of Bahia, and he spent 2021 to 2023 at Real Noroeste in Espírito Santo. Then came Centro Oeste in Goiás in 2023 and Monte Azul in São Paulo in 2024, before he joined Cianorte in Paraná.
Cianorte was where the picture started to settle. In the 2025 Campeonato Paranaense he played 12 matches, scored once and set up another goal. In March 2025 he went on loan to Juventude, in Rio Grande do Sul, and the spell produced nothing at all: according to Globo Esporte, he did not appear for the club.
The second loan of the year worked out differently. At Operário Ferroviário he played 20 matches in Série B, again scoring once and providing one assist — his first extended run at that level.
He wears number 2 at Maringá and continues with the club through 2026. There is no record of a call-up to any Brazil side, senior or youth, and no trophies or individual awards in his career so far.
