About the player
Gilmar Napa came through the youth ranks at Orense, making his first-team debut in 2021 and going on to play three matches for the club before his career took him elsewhere. Born in Machala, he joined Guayaquil City, where he now wears the number one shirt.
Napa's earliest recognition came at youth level with the national team. In 2019 he was part of the Ecuador squad at the South American U-17 Championship in Peru and later played at the U-17 World Cup in Brazil. He built on that at U-20 level in 2023, appearing in 13 matches and earning a place in the Team of the Tournament for the South American U-20 Championship.
A senior call-up followed in November 2022, when he was named in the Ecuador squad for a friendly against Iraq, though he did not take the field on that occasion.
At club level, Napa has yet to collect any individual honours or titles. Guayaquil City currently sit 10th in the Ecuadorian Serie A.
