About the player
Halle Mackiewicz made her professional debut for Chicago Stars FC on 24 May 2025, against the Kansas City Current, having arrived in the NWSL after her path there nearly stalled a year earlier. Kansas City had picked her 32nd overall in the 2024 NWSL Draft, but a shoulder injury meant that contract never materialised. Instead of a debut season in the league, she spent 2024 in Sweden with Trelleborgs FF, making ten league appearances and one in the Swedish Cup.
Her college career at Clemson gave a clearer sign of what she could do. Across four seasons with the Tigers, she built a reputation as one of the conference's most reliable goalkeepers, and by 2023 that showed in the numbers: 25 appearances and 13 clean sheets, a programme record, along with ACC Goalkeeper of the Year honours and a spot on the all-conference first team.
The foundation for that run was laid earlier, in the Real Colorado academy, where she was part of the side that won the national Development Academy championship at U-17 level in 2018.
At Chicago Stars FC, Mackiewicz wears the number 22 shirt and plays right-footed. Her route to the NWSL, delayed by injury and detoured through Sweden, has put her in competition for minutes at a club still shaping its goalkeeping picture.
