About the player
Héctor Holguín joined the Santos Laguna academy at the age of 13 in Torreón. He holds dual United States and Mexican nationality, having been born in El Paso, Texas.
His path to the first team included a loan spell at Tampico Madero, where he reached the Liga de Expansión MX final in 2021. He returned to Santos Laguna.
Holguín made his Liga MX debut in the 2023 Apertura, starting against Tijuana in a match Santos Laguna won 2-1. Since then he has continued to compete for minutes between the posts.
Team honours have so far eluded him, though his run to the final with Tampico Madero remains the closest he has come to silverware since leaving the academy system.
