Idris Sheka Kanu

Kanu came through West Ham United's academy from the age of eleven, but the club let him go and it was Aldershot Town who gave him his senior break, signing him in October 2016. He became the youngest player to appear in the league for Aldershot and the youngest to score for them.

Peterborough United signed him in 2017, and he spent five years at London Road, making 46 appearances and scoring twice. Loan spells took him around the lower leagues: three appearances and a goal at Port Vale, then a more productive stint at Boreham Wood, where he scored four times in 18 games. A loan at Northampton Town followed in 2022, though he did not find the net there.

Barnet signed him in September 2022. He has gone on to make 151 appearances for the club, scoring 19 goals, and has since signed a new contract to extend his stay.

Kanu qualifies for Sierra Leone through his heritage, and chose to represent them over England, for whom he was also eligible by birth. He made his international debut in November 2021 in a 2-0 defeat to Comoros, and has since earned six caps, without yet scoring for his country.
