About the player
Between 2018 and 2021 the midfielder won the Primera División each year with Universidad Católica, adding the Supercopa de Chile in 2019, 2020 and 2021. He made his senior debut for the club on 4 August 2018 and passed 135 league appearances before he left.
The move to Russia came without a fee. Saavedra joined Sochi as a free agent on 24 January 2024 and played in both the Premier League and the First League, helping the club return to the top flight. He scored 5 goals in 63 league matches there.
Rubin took him on loan in February 2026 for €100,000 and made the deal permanent on 16 July 2026 for €670,000, with a contract running to 2029.
Internationally he was at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup with Chile's under-17s and took gold at the 2018 South American Games with the under-20s. His senior debut came on 26 March 2021 against Bolivia, a 2-1 win. As of March 2026 he had 6 caps.
