About the player
There is a version of a footballing story that runs through the game's biggest academies and never gets a second act. Jack Elliott's is one of them: Fulham took him in as a boy, then let him go at 12. He went to the United States on a university scholarship, then turned out for an amateur side in Florida before Major League Soccer took a chance on him in the 2017 draft, 77th overall.
Philadelphia Union is where Elliott built a career. Across seven seasons in Pennsylvania he made 223 league appearances, formed part of the side that won the Supporters' Shield in 2020, and reached the MLS Cup final in 2022.
He moved to Chicago Fire as a free agent at the end of 2024, initially on a one-year deal. In his first season at the club, in 2025, Elliott started 36 matches and scored four goals, and was voted the club's Defender of the Year. Chicago activated the option to keep him for 2026.
