About the player
Jordy Gillekens spent little time at OH Leuven before Fiorentina came calling.
The path back home ran through the Challenger Pro League. Gillekens joined Lierse SK on a free transfer in March 2021, then moved to Francs Borains in July 2023, where he played 32 matches and scored once across two seasons. By the time he left Belgium, he had built up 110 appearances in the country's second tier.
SV Wehen Wiesbaden signed him on a free transfer in July 2025, on a three-year contract, as a replacement for defender Carstens. He has since made 44 appearances for the German side, scoring three goals, and won the Hessen Cup with the club. A DFB-Pokal tie against Bayern Munich in August 2025 brought one of the more memorable moments of that spell: after the final whistle, Gillekens swapped shirts with Harry Kane.
At youth level, Gillekens represented Belgium six times for the under-17s between 2016 and 2017, adding a further appearance for the under-18s. He has not featured for the senior national team.
