About the player
Jean-Baptiste Gorby signed his first professional contract with Braga in December 2021 and was included in the first-team squad straight away, making his debut on 5 December 2021 against Estoril Praia. Just over six weeks later, on 22 January 2022, he scored his first goal for the senior side — against Sporting.
Before that, Gorby had come through the academy system in France and Portugal. He spent two years in Nantes's youth ranks before joining Braga's youth setup in August 2019.
Braga loaned him out for the 2023/24 season to Paços de Ferreira, a free-of-charge loan with no option to buy. He made 34 appearances for the club in Portugal's second division and scored twice.
He returned to Braga and, in December 2024, signed a contract extension through 2028.
Gorby holds dual French and Haitian nationality and has Malagasy family roots, though he has not represented any country at international level. Asked about his international future by Foot Mercato in December 2025, he said the decision could wait: "I haven't done anything yet, I want to prove myself at club level first... We'll see later." He has yet to win a team trophy or collect an individual award in his career.
