About the player
Joao Tavares came through the youth ranks at Athletico Paranaense, where he spent two years in the Sub-20 side and made more than ninety appearances as the club won Paraná state titles. None of that time translated into a first-team debut, and by the end of 2024 he had left the club as a free agent.
He signed with Maricá at the turn of the year, joining in time for the Rio state championship, before moving on again within months. Londrina brought him in as a free agent in the spring of 2025.
His debut for the club came in the Série C, in a 2-1 win over Figueirense. Since then he has appeared in roughly two dozen matches for Londrina, about ten of them as a starter, and scoring once. He has also featured in the Série B, the Paraná state championship and the Copa do Brasil, adding an assist along the way. There has been no individual recognition to date, and no call-up to a national team.
