About the player
José Santiago Hernández spent thirteen years working his way through Atlas's academy and squad before leaving the club in 2025 with two Liga MX titles to his name — Apertura 2021 and Clausura 2022.
A Campeón de Campeones followed later in 2022.
Born in Guadalajara, he came up through Atlas's youth ranks and made his Liga MX debut in 2018, going on to make around 58 league appearances for the club.
At youth international level, Hernández represented Mexico across the Under-17, Under-20, Under-21, Under-22 and Under-23 age groups, for 15 caps in total. He was named in Mexico's squad for the 2017 Under-20 World Cup but did not play, with Fernando Hernández and Abraham Romero used in goal instead. He also featured for Mexico at the 2018 Toulon Tournament. A senior international debut has not followed.
He joined Querétaro for the 2025 Apertura, where he has made 13 appearances and competes with Guillermo Allison for the starting goalkeeper's jersey.
