Kevin Minda

In late 2018 Kevin Minda was a 19-year-old academy product. Injuries to LDU Quito's first-choice defenders opened the door, and he started the championship final series against Emelec. LDU won the Ecuadorian title, and Minda's name was on the team sheet for the games that decided it.

He had joined the club's academy in 2012 and made his professional debut on 24 November 2018, in a 4-0 Serie A win over El Nacional. Within months he was on his way out on loan.

The move to Universidad Católica in Quito, initially a loan in 2019 and then a permanent transfer in 2020, reshaped what kind of footballer he was. He had arrived as a centre-back who could fill in at right-back. Under coach Santiago Escobar, he settled into midfield as a holding player and stayed there. He also picked up the Ecuadorian Cup in 2019.

Five years later he went back. On 30 December 2024 LDU Quito confirmed his return as a free agent, and 2025 became a significant season in his career: 47 appearances across all competitions, including 31 in Serie A with a goal and an assist, six in the Ecuadorian Cup with a goal, and ten in the Copa Libertadores. He won the Ecuadorian Supercup that year.

Minda has represented Ecuador at youth level rather than senior — three caps at under-17s, including the 2015 World Cup; nine at under-20s, covering the 2017 South American and world tournaments; and four with the under-22 side at the 2019 Pan American Games. He has not been called up to the senior national team.

In June 2026 he moved to Peruvian club FBC Melgar on an 18-month loan, with his LDU Quito contract running to June 2027.
