About the player
The goal that decided a promotion came in the playoff against Sarmiento. On loan at Arsenal de Sarandí in 2019, Garate scored the winner that took the Primera B Nacional title and sent the club up.
He came through the River Plate youth system and won the Copa Libertadores Sub-20 there in 2012, then made his senior debut at Tigre . The first move abroad came in 2015, when he joined Sandefjord Fotball in Norway as a free agent. It did not hold him: within two years he was back in Argentina with Deportivo Rincón, then Brown de Adrogué.
Chile gave him a longer run. After spells at Barnechea and Coquimbo Unido , where he won the Primera B de Chile, he signed for Unión Española in January 2022. There he finished as joint top scorer of the 2022 Copa Chile with six goals.
Huracán paid roughly a million US dollars for half of his transfer rights in January 2024 and handed him a three-year contract. Part of the 2024–25 season was spent on loan at Banfield , and in July 2025 Huracán sent him out again, this time to AE Larissa in the Greek Super League.
