Larisa

Larissa's own start had come from a merger. In May 1964, four local sides — Iraklis, Aris, Tochotis and Larisakos — combined into Athlitiki Enosi Larissa, an idea the four clubs had discussed since 1958.

The 1987-88 season brought the only league title in the club's history, sealed with a goal from Georgios Mitsibonas against Iraklis. Three years before that, Dimitris Zigas had scored twice in the 1985 Cup final against PAOK, and it was Takis Parafestas who held the trophy up; a second Cup followed in 2007.

Argentina supplied reinforcements in 1973, when five players arrived from Independiente — among them Horacio Morales and Daniel Hill — and helped carry the club into the top flight.

Home games are played at the AEL FC Arena, all of it under cover, holding 17,118 — a number the club has plans to nearly double, to 33,000.
